Name: Lucy Grant
Family: 2 children aged 3 and 11 months
How often do you work?
I run 8 1 hours classes across 6 venues, three days a week.
How does the job fit around your family life?
It fits perfectly around my family life as I can set my own days, location/venues and working hours. This means I can work my classes around childcare.
How much time do you commit?
To running classes, I work 8 x 1-hour classes. Admin can be during home life hours but isn't strenuous or overly time-consuming.
Where do you carry out your work?
I run my classes in various venues such as churches, soft play function rooms and community centres in my chosen area.
Do you need a car?
Yes, to transport the kit.
Do you get support/training?
Yes, lots of useful and much needed support from the company Director. Especially in the setting up and running of the business side of things.
Would you recommend this opportunity to other mums?
It is a fantastic feeling to be in charge of your own classes, your own business but also knowing you have the support of a director with immense experience. The classes are absolutely brilliant as a product and something to be proud to be a part of. The kit that is included is very high quality and the start-up cost is very reasonable.
Do you advertise?
Yes, I advertise mainly through social media via my business page, community groups and my venue's pages. I have also had flyers printed to promote my business in my venues, doctor's surgeries and in community centres.
Are there any downsides to the role?
With the nature of this role, the only downside is the need to maintain and achieve bookings but an upside of running baby classes is that word of mouth and strong networking between parents can mean a steady flow of customers.
