Language Classes for Children
Franchise Opportunities

Posted: 5th Jun 2018 Closing: 10th Sep 2018

Working for:
Les Puces Ltd

Les Puces is a young company aiming to bring something new and fresh to the early years language class market. We concentrate on French as we believe it’s the most useful second language - and because we do it well!  Our fully integrated method and the wonderful bilingual books and projects that the children take home each half term are what makes us stand out. With a team of talented illustrators, musicians and creative people on board, we are investing in the future of the children we teach.

Launched in 2015, the Les Puces method has spread naturally across the south-east with classes in nurseries and preschools; on curriculum and after-school classes for primary schools; private classes; and open classes after school and on Saturday mornings.

Founder Mandie Davis decided to franchise the business as a way of continuing the growth of Les Puces without compromising on quality.  All unsold areas across the UK are available, including those with established classes, as the aim is to allow the current team to concentrate on providing the high quality fresh materials to our franchisees, teachers and ultimately to the children and parents taking the classes.

We are looking for two more franchisees to help us to prove the model and to learn how to run our new franchise to the best of our abilities.  We are offering a dramatically reduced price to these two before a full launch at full price in 2019.  Speaking French, whilst having definite advantages, is not mandatory.  We need progressive, earnest, business-minded franchisees who will be proud to fly the Les Puces flag in their area - ensuring that children across the country have the chance to participate in what is proving to be a much loved and highly valued part of their childhood.

If you aim high and are looking to combine working from home with building a strong team; If you would enjoy helping parents guide their children through their own language journey, then we'd love to hear from you.

Investment Required:
Currently £10k (no VAT) for next 2 franchises. Will rise to £20k + VAT. Working capital also advised.

At least 21 hours a week - but you’re the boss!

We have just launched our franchise so you will be in at the beginning to help us prove our projected figures. We would expect a franchisee with 20 teachers taking a mix of between 3 and 4 different types of classes, to earn around £70k profit.

Best suited to:
If you're motivated, caring, professional, organised, business-minded & want to take control of your own life then this could be for you. Don’t waste the skills that you have just because you are a mum! Get back to work but still be there for your family. Open your own office, set your own hours & work whilst the children are at school/in bed. Take on the challenge of having your own business.

How often do you work?
I do some work every day, including weekends though weekends will be mostly answering a few urgent emails, which I can do anywhere on my phone. This means that family time isn’t interrupted.

How does the job fit around your family life?
A big part of the job is done via the internet which means I can be flexible with my working hours and can fit those around the family’s activities. Sometimes I find my head is clear and ready to work in the early hours! I love that I can get up and be working on my future at times that suit me.

How much time do you commit?
As my working time is mostly flexible the commitment can be anything between three to six hours a day. I’ve never actually measured how much time I commit to my work as it has become such an integral part of my day.

Where do you carry out your work?
Mostly at home on the computer and telephone. Because I speak French I take some of the classes myself, but that isn’t necessary for a franchisee.

Do you need a car?
Yes, I need a car to get to the classes (I speak French so I take some of them myself), to interviews I carry out and for distributing the teaching materials to teachers every other month.

Do you get support/training?
Do you get support/training? 400 characters Yes, the Franchisor has and is providing excellent training and continued support in all aspects of the business. I’ve had two sets of 2 day training courses with hotel, breakfast and lunch paid, which was nice! Plus the training extended beyond running the business into personal image development and having professional headshots taken.

Would you recommend this opportunity to other mums?
Mandie and her team provide excellent training and ongoing support. The company’s ethos and integrity are impeccable and the Les Puces program and materials are outstanding. The area I have is very generous and the ongoing franchise percentage low. In the short time since becoming a franchisee, I’ve already seen my business grow. I feel great about my future!

Do you advertise?
Yes, both the Franchisor and I use social media to promote my business, as well as apps and websites such as Hoop and Mums and toddlers groups. I also email local primary schools and nurseries and distribute leaflets in local cafes, schools etc

Are there any downsides to the role?
None that I can think of, apart perhaps that initially, you’ve got to be prepared to invest time and money to see the business grow.
