Name: Nicolette Smith
Location: Quainton, Buckinghamshire
Family: Mum of two, married and two cats
How often do you work?
Flexible around the school run and children's activities and home life, most weekdays during the day and some hours in the evenings and sometimes weekends.
How does the job fit around your family life?
Working between 9:30am and 14:00pm so I can be a mum to my children. I don't like to work weekends, because I want to spend time with my family, so I simply schedule my business hours around family life. Some evenings and weekends I see opportunities that I grab.
How much time do you commit?
I probably do about 20 hours a week, could be more or could be less. I know consultants that work Mary Kay alongside their jobs in law firms or as doctors, but also cleaners and supermarket jobs. You set your own hours, from as little as maybe 6 hours a week you can build a successful business.
Where do you carry out your work?
Mostly from home but sometimes at client's home, school fetes, pamper events, wedding shows, etc.
Do you need a car?
Would be ideal, but not compulsory. I know consultants that only carry their Welcome Kit bag to appointments using public transport.
Do you get support/training?
Yes ongoing support and training from head office and our directors.
Would you recommend this opportunity to other mums?
Yes! It's the best thing anyone can do.
Do you advertise?
We do our own advertising, the company does do PR campaigns, but no major TV or national newspaper advertising. It's just me doing my local adverts.
Are there any downsides to the role?
Not every sales contact results in closing a deal. You learn to cope with the 'no thank you' responses, but we turn it into a challenge to get as many as you can.
