Musical Moments is a multi-award winning business that delivers interactive, music-based sessions to care homes across the UK.
We deliver an hour of music-based activity for older people, singing, live music on your instrument, safe chair-based exercise, sensory activities and musical reminiscence. It is a very flexible role and ‘full time’ in our role is 10 sessions (hours) per week. Our franchisees charge between £50-£60 per session.
Established in 2011, Musical Moments now has a stellar reputation for providing meaningful and effective music-based sessions to care homes and community groups. Our unique session plan and structure means that there’s no session planning, everything has been done for you, all you need to do is turn up, deliver and enjoy! With over 20,000 care homes across the UK, the market is huge and we are very much in demand, receiving enquiries for our activity every day.
We want to continue to grow our rapidly expanding team (15 franchisees in 2 years) and bring more music to older people living in care homes to help improve quality of life, social wellbeing and providing them with stimulating interaction and activities.
Becoming a Musical Moments franchisee means that you will own your own business – you are the boss! You can choose the hours/days that you want to work, you can work part time or grow your business and take on your own staff. Our tried and tested model is extremely flexible and will provide you with a rewarding career.

Best suited to:
Musicians, Performers – availability late mornings and early afternoons.
Family: One little boy called Harry (14months)
How often do you work?
Currently I work 3 days a week and try to deliver 3 sessions a day. Usually at 11am, 1:30 and 3pm. As Harry gets older and starts school I will most likely adjust my hours to 5 days and 2 sessions at 11 and 1:30. As the business grows rather than increasing my own hours I intend to take someone on to deliver more sessions.
How does the job fit around your family life?
Ideal, I set my own hours & days to fit easily around my childcare.. Care homes tend to want late mornings and early/mid afternoon sessions so I have a bit of extra time on a morning to get sorted out. I usually leave the house at 10am and am home before 5pm so plenty of time at the end of the day for my mum duties. Some franchisees take their children to sessions in the school holidays too.
How much time do you commit?
I do 3 hours of sessions a day which obviously requires some admin time booking in and invoicing etc, but the beauty of Musical Moments is that all the sessions are ready planned for you so there is minimal prep time on top of the actually hours delivering sessions. Before I had Harry I was a secondary school teacher so having my planning done for me is a very welcome revelation.
Where do you carry out your work?
I visit care homes in my territory to deliver the sessions, so there is a bit of driving in the day. Then I do all my admin from home when Harry is asleep or on the road between sessions. It is a great excuse for a lunch time visit to a coffee shop in peace while I send a few emails.
Do you need a car?
Yes. I have managed to group my care homes to keep driving to a minimum but my territory covers a large area so driving is a must.
Do you get support/training?
Beckie is fantastic and I feel well trained and supported. I had 2 full training days at the start by the end of which I felt confident in delivering my sessions. Further to that Beckie is always on the end of the phone if you have any questions or need support.
Would you recommend this opportunity to other mums?
Because you are in control of when you work and also it is so much fun. Compared to my old job I don’t really feel like I am working because the hours are so easy and it is so rewarding. It is a genuine privilege and pleasure to have a job that brings so much happiness to people in need but also pays you well for the time you put in.
Do you advertise?
Musical Moments do lots of national marketing for you on social media and provide everything I need for advertising. In the start up kit you get ready made flyers, poster and business cards which I have delivered in person to most of the homes in my territory. It's quite time consuming in the 1st couple of weeks but worth it as I'm almost fully booked now at only 3 months into the business.
Are there any downsides to the role?
The one thing I was worried about was not having colleagues that I see everyday and I do miss that to an extent. But all the franchisees are on a whatsapp group which is really supportive, we have annual team days and I meet regularly with my neighbouring franchisee. On top of that you get to work with some amazing care home staff on a regular basis.
