ColourWheel Art Class UK Ltd
Art Classes for Adults - The inspiration behind ColourWheel Art Classes was to offer accessible, fun and creative art classes especially for people who think that they can’t draw or paint but want to learn.
Our classes are taught by professional, well-qualified teachers, and the level of customer service we deliver is exceptional. The classes are great value for money and we go the extra mile for each and every student to make sure that their experience surpasses their expectations. Our students come back again and again which is a testament to the care and attention we put into everything we do.
With successful franchises already in place, we’re now offering the right people the opportunity to run their own business in their area, with the potential to earn a full-time wage for truly part-time hours!
You don’t need to be ‘arty’. Hiring a qualified, experienced art teacher is one of the first things you will do. You are, essentially, the course leader. You will facilitate the teacher so they can concentrate solely on what they do best, teaching your students to draw and paint. The fact that every student has a wonderful time is not only down to the pleasure they gain from learning new skills but also the fun, lively and creative ColourWheel ethos.
The role of the ColourWheel franchisee is, in a nutshell, to find an appropriate venue for your classes, engage your teacher, market the classes, take the bookings, set up the classes for each lesson, be the host or hostess at class for the day and aid your teacher where necessary. You and your teacher will work together as a team to provide wonderful art classes that are truly appreciated.
It is a very satisfying experience to host your own classes, the students are so excited to be there and it is a fantastic environment to work in.

Name: Heidi Zhou
Family: Husband and two children
How does the job fit around your family life?
It fits in perfectly, I work one day a week hosting two classes and also hold one short two hour evening class. We only hold art classes during term time which means that I don’t have to worry about childcare during the holidays.
How much time do you commit?
I spend every Tuesday during term time hosting two daytime classes and then one evening class for two hours on a Wednesday. I also have a bit of admin, sending out email confirmations etc to our students. I also make sure we have everything ready for the classes.
Where do you carry out your work?
I hire a wonderful venue close to where I live to hold the classes. I always use the same venue each term so I get a great rate, also the staff there are lovely and so helpful.
Do you need a car?
Yes, you do. I take the art supplies to class and set it up ready for the student's arrival. I have quite a large car but you don’t need one that big. One of my colleagues, a partner in another area, has a mini which is more than big enough.
Do you get support/training?
Yes! Very much part of a team. I have a lovely franchisee support manager who's always there to help. I had so much assistance. Setting up the classes, support and advice every step of the way and most importantly practical help. I had help viewing suitable venues, providing CV’s for the teacher role, interviewing them with me, everything to start up the first class. We all work together!
Would you recommend this opportunity to other mums?
Yes, I would. I wish I had started this business sooner.
Do you advertise?
I advertise locally. The classes are for adults and our advertising is directed at those who no longer work during the day or work shifts or for themselves and then the evening classes appeal to those who do have daytime commitments or jobs. There is a class for everyone!
Are there any downsides to the role?
I haven’t come across one yet!
