Beth Daniel - Helen O'Grady Drama Academy Teacher and Franchisee
This month we talk to Beth Daniel, a talented Helen O'Grady Drama Academy teacher and franchisee to get the low down on a change she made for the better!
Who’s typically suited to being a Helen O’Grady Drama Academy Franchisee?I think anyone who is creative, loves working with children and who would like to run their own business. This job provides stimulation both when teaching or working in the office.
What are the benefits of being a Franchisee?Working hours to suit you, you can work from home. You have the flexibility to support one’s own children and spend time with them. You grow in confidence and watching others do so too. You get fantastic support from Head Office. Being part of an international organisation where creativity and energy flows across continents, teaching a curriculum that is world renowned. Being part of a national network who all have a common interest-building self esteem and confidence in young people.
And what about your business model?Work hard, put the time in when you can, but you’ll also have the opportunity to spend time with your family.
What training and support is available? There is an initial four day induction training programme before we open our classes. Head Office provides ongoing support and training which gets better and better every year! We have three seminars a year where we meet as Franchisees and teachers to grow our businesses and workshop our stunning curriculum.
What hours would I have to work? There is flexibility in the hours you work. As I run my office from home, I am able to have my 17 month old with me at all times. Not many working mums can say they bring their children to work every day. I think that is a big advantage of running one’s own business! I am also able to go to mummy classes with him so I spend quality time with him too. I think it is up to you how you want to structure your day.
What has been your own experience returning to work as a Franchisee? It was a fairly easy process as I was able to have my baby with me whilst working. I didn’t have to make that transition from returning to an office or a big company where my time would be inflexible. Head Office made the process easy and supported me throughout.
What would be the number one bit of advice you would give a mum who is looking to become part of a bigger business?Seize every opportunity that you can. Do what makes you happy. Don’t be afraid to take the leap.
How can I find out more?Contact Nigel Le Page, our National Director, on 01481 200250 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
