Küster Jellybaby Changing Mat The Küster changing mat is the first ever memory foam changing mat to be ergonomically shaped to fit your baby. And because baby is being changed constantly, day in, day out, the clever people at Küster have made it not only easy to wipe clean, the special high tech material is warm to the touch, soft and gentle for your baby and free from PVC. A much happier experience for baby's delicate skin, all round. The changing mat comes with a 100% cotton and towelling, machine washable liner. A travel bag is also included. If you want the whole baby changing experience to be much more comfortable for your baby, there's now really only one choice. RRP £25.00 | Available from the Küster website | www.kuster.co.uk |
Really funky design which also was very functional the foam mat clung onto the base of my changing table so there was no chance it would slip or move. There were no instructions but a nice booklet with info about the product. It was really easy to use, and great shape. Alessio was happy to have nappy off time on the mat the sides hold the baby in so he couldn't roll out. The design is great but a special plus point is the surface - memory foam!, it was always pleasant to put the baby on the mat it never felt cold and the fabric layer retained heat so when Alessio had been on the mat for several minutes I could feel the heat of his body on the mat. The base was wipe clean and the fabric layer is machine washable, I have also washed it through and it came out great the quality of the materials used is really good. It felt very secure to use especially when you have a very wriggly baby like mine! The difference was significant between the standard changing mat we'd been using before which was functional and the Jellybaby mat - shape was soo much better and the way that the mat retained heat so no cold helps at 2am change. The price is reasonable for the product and I have already recommended the mat to other parents - several of my friends from aqua natal came round and I had a house full of new mums and babies all needing changing in succession, every mother agreed that they loved this mat and I've pointed them at the Kuster website to order. |
The design of this changing mat is eye catching and fun. Lovely body hugging shape and soft mat add to a really comfortable overall feel. Jemima was very happy when we used this mat. We really liked the softness of the mat as it cushioned Jemima when we had a lively nappy change. Plus we didn't get too worried if she was wriggling around as she seemed secure on it. One slight downside was it is not easy to wipe clean in that it is not a plastic finish so a bit different to most normal changing mats, also the mat also marks easily but overall this doesn't matter too much as it is more an aesthetic issue and has no impact on the functionality of the Jellybaby. It's it good value for money for the reasons outlined above, particularly baby hugging shape and soft material. |
I liked the design of this changing mat it was shaped like a jelly bean, and the funky pattern on the washable towel made it bright. It looked good as well as being practical. There were no instructions on the use of the changing mat, but there was lots of information on the packaging regarding its design. George liked lying on this mat, because of the memory foam and the towelling topper he didn't get hot and sweaty and they deep shape made it secure. The towelling is washable and the mat is easy to clean. Compared to the changing mat that I have been using, the Jellybaby is really good - our mat didn't have much padding, and was made of PVC. I would definitely recommend this mat to other parents, it is expensive but worth it, it is luxury for your baby while they are having their bums done. |
Rabbitts Changing Mat The Rabbitts Mat is the world's first Safety Harness Changing Mat. It has anti-roll technology to help prevent your baby falling during a nappy change. It's comfortable, quick and easy to use - and there's no safer way to change your baby's nappy. In the UK of the 1,000,000 falls of infants in the home every year 230,000 occur at nappy changing time that is 60 per day or one per major Hospital and the majority are head injuries as the head of the infant is heavier. So the Rabbitts mat is a major step forward in infant safety. RRP £24.95 | Available from Rabbitts - www.rabbitts.com | |
The mat was designed with practically in mind but that seemed to be at the expense of comfort and looks. It came with good instructions which were very clear. The safety harness was easy to use. Unfortunately Alessio wasn't keen on this mat, he didn't like to be strapped in and because nappy changing time is usually his free time without the nappy he totally rejected being strapped in. I do think the safety harness is a good idea though. The fabric was hard plastic and easy to clean. The mat was very safe .. if only my boy would have spent more than 1 minute without crying in it. Compared to the changing mat I'd been using before design-wise there was no comparison, the Rabbitt mat was electric yellow with primary green edging in hard plastic, my previous mat was a soft plastic soft padded child/nursery aesthetic friendly design. I think I would have preferred to have tested this mat in a more neutral colour from the range such as Classic Cream. I appreciate the mat is a good step forward for child safety but the aesthetics need improvement for me. I have spoken to a few of my friends and they all agreed the mat was a great idea, but that the look of it needed vast improvement to make it appealing. If the colours were nicer and the material softer this would have scored much higher with me. |
At first I was quite nervous about this mat as I did not want to tie Jemima down whilst changing her. However, after using the mat a few times I think it is brilliant. Jemima has stopped struggling when being changed and lies there quite happily. The little removable mat is good as is the surface material which is easy to clean. It came with very clear instructions and was easy and straightforward to use. At first Jemima cried when we used the Rabbitts mat as she tried to roll over and run off (normal behaviour) but she quickly realised that she was not going anywhere and now just lies there happily. It is now our changing mat of choice. I would definitely recommend this mat to other parents; the straps give it a clear competitive advantage in the world of changing mats. This was our favourite mat we tested, it is fantastic for children aged six months plus when they start to get more active and wriggly.

I didn't like the design of this mat; it seemed bulky and not very pleasing on the eye. Although it was practical as it has a harness to keep your baby/child in place. This mat had very clear written as well as photo instructions, these helped to explain some of its many features . The special features were endless - I liked the idea of the harness, it had grooves for your legs and feet for comfort plus a catch area for little accidents to stop other clothes getting wet. It was very easy to clean and the towelling was washable. The main downside for us with the Rabbitts mat was George simply didn't like it and wasn't happy using it, and it was hard to lift his bottom off the mat to get the nappy on. I thought this mat was expensive although value for money and it gives the parent peace of mind that the child can not go anywhere. I would recommend it to other parents - especially those with older wriggly babies. |
Mamas & Papas Musical Changing Mattress Available in several designs which co-ordinate perfectly with the M&P collection, the musical changing mattress is comfortable for baby and practical for you. Key Features:
RRP £20.00 | Available from Mamas and Papas - www.mamasandpapas.co.uk |
This changing mat was very like a standard mat. It had no real holding sides so my baby could have rolled out easily and when my boy decided to show us his impression of a fountain the mat didn't catch the wee so not only was the mat wet but so was the changing table and everything around it! It didn't come with instructions, but none really needed. The mat fit well on my changing table and it was standard size so should fit all changing tables. The mat had a musical button at the base end of the mat, unfortunately this was embroidered button and easily soiled by Alessio...which following quite a few attempts to clean has not been able to remove stains, I think the designers should have maybe placed the button at head end to avoid baby accidents! Also the music was very tinny so sounded like a broken toy but Alessio does like music /sounds so seemed quite happy for me to keep pressing the button. There were no anti-roll edges so for me the standard mat I had been using was designed much better as it held in the baby and also the spillages. I didn't think this mat was value for money - the novelty was the music button, but the quality of the music was poor and the button was in the wrong place. |
This was a pretty standard well made mat except for the musical piece which I did not place any value on at all as Jemima seemed completely disinterested. Maybe it works better for younger babies (less than six months). When Jemima decides that she is going to wriggle and run off then a bit of tinny music is not going to distract her. After a while the repetitive music started to get on my wick to be honest! On the plus side the mat had good cover material which was easy to clean. I wouldn't be rushing to recommend this mat to other parents as I think it is a standard mat and I didn't value the music feature, so would not pay a premium for it. |
I liked the design of this mat; it was the same as a standard changing mat but was musical. It didn't come with any instructions, but was easy to use, with a small push button to activate the music. George didn't like this mat, it was not very padded, and because of the sides seemed a bit small for him, plus the music was not very relaxing. I didn't feel the special musical feature was worth the price of what is actually a standard wipe-clean changing mat and for this reason (plus it was easier for George to roll off this mat) I wouldn't recommend it to other parents. |
