5 stars

This highchair came with very clear step by step instuctions both in pictures and words and were very easy to follow. I loved the look of it, really luxurious for the baby, modern and I liked the colour and pattern of the seat. It was very quick and easy to put together (except for putting on the basket which was very fiddly!) and also to fold back up, I liked the way the tray hung on the back when folded, it looked very neat and didn't take up much space. Poppy was very happy to be placed in the highchair and seemed very comfy, the seat and back are very well padded. There are 5 different height postions so there is lots of scope to adjust to what suits you and your baby. This highchair has lots of special features and the attention to detail is excellent. There are wheels on the back which make it very easy to move around, these are locked into place when the highchair is in use. As well as the 5 height postions there are 4 seat postions and the footrest moves as well with the backrest, so it is really easy to find the optimum position of comfort for you and your baby (especially if your baby dozes off in the highchair!!). There are 3 trays, a safety tray, a play tray and a feeding tray, again these are multi positional and the tray slides easily to allow the baby to be put in and out. The highchair is treated with Microban which is a reassuring feature as it inhibits the growth of household bacteria which comes into contact with the surface. It claims to last the lifetime of the product and so effortlessly improves hygiene standards. I found it really easy to keep clean, it was all wipeable and again no places for "bits" to hide! I would definately recommend this highchair to anybody and feel that although it is pricy you really do get a lot of extra features for your money which make it worth paying a little bit more for.

4 stars

The highchair arrived in a big box and was already assembled apart from having to fit the food tray. The chair has a very traditional look and is also quite large and appeared to look comfortable. The chair itself is rather bulky and when folded still takes up a large amount of space. We have a large kitchen but had to rearrange the furniture to accommodate the chair. When actually using the chair, Carter, aged 8 months, was very happy and the detachable food trays leaving a play tray were excellent. The chair can be adjusted to different heights depending on what height you were sat at when feeding baby. This was particularly useful when giving him supper in the lounge as opposed to the kitchen. The detachable food tray assisted with cleaning but the larger irregular shape was too big to fit in my sink and on the draining board. The grooves in the seat padding were a little awkward to clean. The highchair has a recline facility and was used to good effect on a couple of occasions when Carter fell asleep. Overall, the Silvercross chair provided excellent comfort for baby but I would recommend its use only large kitchens with adequate space to keep it in its upright position. As with all Silvercross products, build quality is excellent, but for £99 I think I was expecting more.

3 stars

The highchair came with clear concise instructions and was refreshingly all in English (no sifting through tens of pages of other languages just to find out how the thing works!). My first impressions were that it was bulky with lots of padding (when it comes to highchairs I tend to prefer plain and simple designs that can blend in with the rest of your furniture). However, the quality of the item looked good and it seemed robust. It easily folds up for storage and is sturdy and self supporting when locked into position. Unfolded it is a big highchair which takes up a lot of floor space. My son was initially a little cautious about being placed in it but seemed comfortable once in. For a younger baby, they would be comfortable and well supported in it due to the padding and adjustability. The height was adjustable to 5 different positions meaning you should be able to find the ideal height for you, regardless of the height of your own chairs and table. The highchair is coated in Microban Antibacterial Protection which inhibits growth of household bacteria giving you peace of mind. It comes with three trays that are all easy to wipe clean and two of which are removable. The seat padding itself is wipe clean although Tom being the age that he is means that he is now feeding himself which often creates a lot of mess and I did find that there were a lot of nooks and crannies that food could lurk in unless you were careful. I have used the highchair quite a few times now and it has grown on both Tom and I, although I do still feel that it is a bit cumbersome for my kitchen. He is happy and comfy in it and even uses it for doing his colouring in, using the attachable play tray. There are additional features: the highchair comes with a footrest and smooth recline facility making it suitable for babies from as young as 4 months (not needed for Tom but if I'd had this highchair when he was younger I would definitely have used the recline feature). Overall I would recommend this highchair to other Mums especially if their baby was quite young. I do think it is value for money. You get a lot of highchair for £99 and the quality is good.

Kuster - K2 Highchair

The latest must-have ultra stylish high chair in the Küster range offers practicality at an affordable price. Ergonomically designed and easy to clean, the K2 has an adjustable removable tray, simple folding mechanism and comes complete with full 5 point safety harness, handy basket and self levelling feet. The chair will grow with your child until they are around 6 years old and will allow them to sit right up to the table without the tray. The cleverly designed tray cover is dishwasher safe, and the cushions are fully washable 100% cotton, kind to baby's skin. You can even wash the harness. Suitable from 6 months to 6 years and would make a stylish addition to any kitchen.

2 stars

The highchair came with clear instructions, most of it had already been constucted which I was quite relieved about as they looked a bit more complicated than the ones I had tried before! This highchair has a very contemporay look which personally did not appeal to me, it is white and chrome and looked rather cold and clinical to me and I also couldn't imagine it staying clean for long! It was very easy to fold up and store and didn't take up much room. When opened out it was quite wide so I had to move my table out a bit to accomadate it. The instructions state that the tray should be in place when the baby is put in but I found the gap too narrow to get Poppy's legs into comfortably so had to remove the tray to put her in. The back is very upright and doesn't have different positions and her head was above the height of the back of the seat. The removeable cushion was not very thick but she seemed comfy enough on it. The tray has leg "holes" which were quite tight over her legs, the tray clips on from underneth which I found fiddly, there were 3 different tray positions though but it was quite cumbersome to move the tray between positions. The tray surface and the highchair itself were easy to clean but I would imagine that the white cushion would requite very frequent washing! I only used this highchair once as I didn't like it much and Poppy didn't look too comfy in it. There were no additional features with only 1 position. The feet are supposed to adjust to any surface but it still wobbled a bit on my floor! I'm afraid to say this highchair didn't do much for me, Poppy seemed too big for it at 15 months but it doesn't offer the support I would have wanted for a smaller baby. I don't feel I can recommend it although I'm sure the contempory design would appeal to some, it certainly looks different from a conventional highchair. I don't feel it offered good value for money.

3 stars

Visually, the Kuster is extremely contemporary in its design with its chrome finish and simple design and would not look out of place in a design conscious house. The chair came fully assembled apart from fitting the food tray. The detachable, washable cover is a good idea but more so because it is material and therefore wiping it down is not easy. The detachable food tray was a good idea and was small enough to enable it to be cleaned in a kitchen sink whilst baby could still play using the play tray. The chair did not take up too much space and folded quite flat, however it was very heavy to move. The height was adequate and baby Carter was more than happy being fed in it. Overall, the Kuster is the most visually stunning of all high chairs I have seen! This, coupled with its simplicity would make it ideal for use in any design conscious family where looks are more important than value for money.

4 stars

The instructions that were sent were brief and concise with good illustrations on how to assemble and use the highchair, although I did at first struggle to understand how to attach the harness using these notes. The contemporary and minimalist styling of the K2 made it my favourite of the three in terms of look and design. If you remove the tray, the highchair folds up nicely for storage. Both folded and unfolded the highchair takes up little room and would easily fit into most kitchen/dining areas. Tom was very happy in this chair, although there was no seat cushion (apparently one can be purchased separately which I would advise for comfort) and the footrest is not adjustable so could not be used by young children. The height was also not adjustable but was a good height for me if I needed to assist Tom in eating. The tray was made of wood with a wipe-clean finish and had a snap-on plastic cover which could be removed and put in the dishwasher. In addition to the dishwasher-proof plastic tray, the highchair came with a small net basket and rather clever self-adjusting feet to prevent rocking on any uneven surfaces. It is also meant to be suitable up to the age of six (although as it is not height adjustable I'm not sure many children of this age would want to be placed in something that still resembles a baby's highchair). I would recommend the highchair to other Mums if they put looks before comfort (perhaps with the seat cushion it would be more comfortable). Without a seat cushion I would struggle to part with £95 for this item, despite its looks as I feel that there are better ones in the market for the price.

Graco - Teatime Highchair

It's stylish, comfortable dining all the way with one Graco's best ever highchairs. There's a roomy padded seat in wipe-clean fabric, with soft mesh where your baby's head rests. There's a huge easy-wipe multi-position plastic tray. When it's not in use, the TeaTime highchair is simple to fold away and easy to store as it's so compact. (only 10cm wide when folded).

4 stars

The highchair came with good instructions, mainly in picture form and they were easy to follow and in a logical order! It was really easy to put together and took no time at all to be up and ready to use. I really liked the look of it, it has a simple and modern design and I liked the blue/grey colour scheme. It was very easy to fold and store, it takes seconds and is very lightweight so excellent if you need to put it up and down for each meal and took up very little space once folded. Poppy was quite happy being put in it and seemed comfy and happy to be fed there, the height was just right for her and for me to feed her at. It's really easy to keep clean, it's all wipeable and there are no nooks and crannies for bits to get stuck in so great if you have a messy feeder like Poppy! I really like it so I've been using it for lots of meals. It's a basic highchair in that it only has 1 height position and doesn't recline which I found fine for an older baby but perhaps may not be so suitable for the very first stages of solid feeding. The 5 point harness is a bit fiddly but the only thing I really wasn't so keen on was the tray. You have to remove the tray every time you get the baby in and out as it clips on rather than slides and it can be tricky to get it clipped back on once the baby's in place. On the plus side it comes with 2 highchair toys which clip into the tray itself, and Poppy loves playing with them! I've been yet to find a highchair toy which stays on the highchair until now so that was a great bonus! Overall I would recommend this highchair to other Mum's especially for a slightly older baby. It would be a great one to have at a grand-parents house etc especially as it's so light and easy to store. I think it offers great value for money for a budget option.

3 stars

The Graco Teatime arrived part assembled with a reasonable set of instructions but assembly did prove somewhat difficult- especially when it came to fit in the food tray. However, once assembled, it was a simple operation to fold the chair flat, thus enabling simple storage when not in use. The detachable tray made cleaning easy but water accumulated in the fixing mechanisms which was quite annoying. The chair itself comes with detachable toys which kept baby amused during feeding but were also a distraction. At £34.99 the Grace Teatime provides good value for money but does not offer the same levels of comfort, design or practicality of the more expensive chairs.

3 stars

The Graco highchair came with a thick multi-language instruction booklet that you only needed the first 8 pages of. However, there were clear pictures that showed you how to assemble and use the chair, followed by further explanation in a briefly worded section. Overall I liked the look/design of the highchair. It was modern, functional and not too bulky. This highchair does fold up for storage to a depth of just 10cm and was quite easy to do once you got the knack and very light to move. For some reason Tom didn't seem as happy in this as in the other two highchairs although the comfort in my opinion was adequate for his needs. The highchair was a good height for me to help feed Tom in, but not being height adjustable, might not suit everybody. It was nicely padded in wipe-clean fabric, with not too many bits for food to get trapped in. The plastic tray was also easy to keep clean. The highchair came with a softer meshed area where your baby's head would rest, an adjustable footrest, adjustable tray and basket and also mix 'n' move toys all of which I liked. I would recommend the highchair as it does what it says on the tin at a good price. It is good value for money. If Tom has seemed happier in this highchair I would have scored it higher..so for other mums this could be a really great budget option highchair.

Overall Winner Silver Cross Sovereign Highchair

The Silver Cross Sovereign has come out top of the highchair reviews - praised for comfort, adjustability (especially the recline feature) the mums like the build quality of this chair and felt you get a lot of highchair for your money! The Kuster K2 divided the panel - it was a hit with our design conscious mum Claire who loved the simple modern styling, at the other end of the spectrum Lottie wasn't so keen on the K2's looks. All of the mums felt the Graco teatime was a great budget highchair with a simple straightforward design and excellent fold-down size.

5 stars

I loved the look of this bag, it looked really smart and classy in classic black and also really unisex so Dad's would be happy to carry it too! It wasn't a huge bag so I would describe it more as an overnight bag rather than a whole weekend, I think it would be an excellent bag to take on a flight too. Although not the biggest it really made use of the space it had and had plenty of elastic sections to hold bottles etc so I think it would keep everything really secure, it had 4 seperate compartments altogether. I felt it offered everything I would expect and more with a messy bag, change mat and a good size removeable insulated section. It also had a clever zipped secure pocket at the back which would be great for keeping tickets, passports etc in. It had a good chunky carry handle that doesn't cut into your hand and a comfy removeable shoulder strap. I also really liked the fact that it was a harder case as I think it would stop things from getting squashed and crumpled inside. I would happliy recommend it to other Mum's looking for a really practical overnight/travel bag, I couldn't find any fault with it and think it was excellent value for money. As it's so smart and doesn't shout "baby!" I would imagine it could be used as a smart travel bag by anyone after the baby years are over!

5 stars

The Red Castle Big Bag resembled a large camera bag and was of a semi-rigid design consisting of two side compartments and a main compartment. The bags rigidity meant that items could be segregated and stored and remained in position at all times during transit. A good idea was the foil lined compartments giving excellent insulation properties. The size of the bag meant that it was only really suitable as a day bag rather than a weekend/overnight bag. However, seeing as replenishing the bag on a daily basis is no great chore, this bag proved excellent during our weekend away with baby and at £37.99 presented excellent value for money when compared with other bags. Our favourite.

4 stars

I very much liked the look/design of this bag. Plain black in colour with silver logo, zip pulls and handle strap attachments, a nice shape and solid carry handle, as well as the optional adjustable shoulder strap. In terms of capacity, this was probably the smallest of the three bags. Saying this I feel that it was a good size for an overnight/weekend bag for a baby's essentials, but perhaps a bit small for my needs with a toddler! There were loads of handy compartments for putting your baby's items in. The main central area was wipe clean and had two side pockets and elasticated sections to hold any toiletries as well as a smaller zipped pocket. One of the end sections contained a removable insulated bottle bag and the other had an internal zipped pocket, two further elasticated bottle holders and a removable change mat and zipped messy bag. There was also another zipped compartment at the back. I particularly liked the sturdiness of the bag and the fact that you could clearly locate the contents due to the wide visibility from above when the bag is unzipped. I would definitely recommend the bag to other Mums thinking of buying an overnight/weekend bag as the quality of the bag is good and it can also be used as a vanity case once baby has finished with it!

Mamas and Papas Oko Bag

A fashionable yet versatile bag with an expanding main compartment to hold baby's essentials. Features:

  • Internal pockets
  • Double zip opening
  • Internal insulated bottle pocket
  • Adjustable shoulder straps
  • Includes fold up changing mat

4 stars

This bag looked gorgeous, I loved the colour and design and it looked girly rather than mumsy! It was a good size and you can really pack a lot in so a good size for an everyday change bag but also big enough for an overnight bag. Inside there are 2 main compartments, each with several stretchy inner pockets for storing bits and pieces safely. There are also 2 outer small zip pockets and a large outer unzipped pocket, so plenty of storage areas and options to organise things how you want them. There is a change mat which is a lovely fleecy material and a small insulated pocket suitable for a bottle. I loved the fact that the bag looked like really quality leather but is actually wipe clean laminated cotton canvas! I also really liked the change mat which was lovely and soft rather than cold plastic! I liked the handles on the bag but would have prefered to have the choice of a removeable shoulder strap as well and a larger insulated compartment would have been useful. Overall I can really recommend this bag, especially if you want a bag that looks great while doing the job you need it to do and I think it offers very good value for money.

3 stars

This bag, with its red and white contemporary pattern was the best looking of all bags tried. The bag was large and compartmentalised, however, due to it's non-rigid design it resulted in the contents becoming intertwined during transit. It also appeared to hold a lot more items that it actually could. At £50 I felt this bag was overpriced for my needs. Nice design, but not as practical for me as the Red Castle.

4 stars

The design of the bag was a bit "busy" for my taste. It had a very bold red print with turquoise handles which I feel would be difficult to coordinate with things like your pushchair and clothing (if that bothers you). As an overnight/weekend bag it was a fairly generous size and if your belongings did start over spilling out of the sections, you could always leave parts of it unzipped to give you extra room. There were plenty of handy compartments for putting all of your child's items in – two main zipped sections with internal open pockets and an insulated bottle bag and washable changing mat, a large external open pocket at the back and two smaller zipped pockets at the front. I liked the fact that the whole bag could be wiped clean, including the exterior. I wasn't keen on the carry handles which are described as "adjustable shoulder straps" but only adjust to one different position and are in my opinion not really long enough for going over your shoulder if it were packed pull of baby items. You would also struggle to attach it to your pushchair for the same reason.I probably would recommend the bag to other Mums thinking of buying an overnight/weekend bag, as long as they liked the colour and print! At £50 I consider it to be value for money. The quality is good, as is the size.

Little Lifestyles Linea 620 Bag

Original, sporty and urban in style. Features:

  • Spacious main compartment, fully lined and water resistant
  • 2 front pockets including storage for a bottle
  • 2 detachable zip pouches
  • Wide internal zip pocket
  • Adjustable, detachable carry strap
  • Padded carry handles

3stars

This bag is of a smart design but it didn't really grab me, it was rather drab looking and I wasn't keen on the front pocket's material, it reminded me of car seat covers! It was certainly the largest of the bags that I tried and would provide ample room for all Poppy's clothes for a weekend away. It consisted of a large main compartment with an internal zip pocket and 2 removeable zip up messy type bags inside. On the front there are 2 zip pockets, the larger has an internal mesh pocket and the smaller an elastic suitable for holding a bottle. There is also a detatchable shoulder strap, and the carry handles are comfy. There wasn't anything except for the size of this bag that stood out and I would've expected to see an insulated area and a change mat. I would be reluctant to recommend this bag as I feel it is rather over priced for the features that it offers, although it certainly has lots of room.

2 stars

At £85, the 620 was the most expensive bag we tested. Visually, the bag resembled a plain hold-all with no external features to make it look at all aimed at a 'Mum' or suitable for a baby/child. The bag itself was very large and more akin to an adult overnight bag with no baby/child features apart from a changing mat. There were some detachable compartments on the inside but we could not work out what they were for (the bag didn't come with any instructions). This bag didn't appeal to our personal design tastes - perhaps other mums might like it..but for me I felt it didn't represent value for money and the Red Castle was much more suited to our needs.

2 stars

However practical, I'm afraid that I found it hard to warm to this bag as I really wasn't keen on the design. It was probably the simplest of the three designs but the orangey-red colour and beige web-effect front pockets just weren't my taste! As an overnight/weekend bag it was a good size and was definitely the largest of the three bags. This was the least fussy of the three in terms of compartments. There was a fully lined main zipped compartment with large internal zipped pocket and two detachable zipped pouches. The exterior had two front pockets (the smaller being suitable for a bottle) – all in all, plenty of room to put your child's items in. The bag seemed nicely padded and gave you the option of padded carry handles or an adjustable, detachable carry strap. However, as previously mentioned, I didn't like the overall look of the bag, however practical the bag might be. It also could have done with some feet at the bottom of the bag to protect from damage when placed on the floor (the other two bags did have feet). I don't think this bag is worth £85. I think half this price would be more realistic.

Overall Winner Red Castle Big Bag

The Red Castle Big Bag was a hit with all three of our reviewers - praised for its looks, design and practical features, the mums felt this bag was a perfect overnight bag. Two of the mums loved the look of the Mamas and Papas Oko bag, with one mum not finding it to her taste - however she still thought it was a good value practical bag. The testers were not as keen on the sporty looks of the Linea 620, although they did feel it was a fantastic size for an overnight bag.
