Holiday Tips!

Toddler Air Travel
Suitcase My tips for air travel with a toddler…...Don't be tempted to expect your kids to sit quietly in the airport departure lounge. Let them expend some energy running around and looking in the shops and cafes so that they aren't too twitchy by the time they get on the plane (and really do have to sit still).

Also, after boarding the plane, point out the seatbelt sign to them and explain that the captain has put it on just for them to tell them when to wear their belt. It kept my daughter amused and she understood what was required of her.

A pack of post it notes are great for colouring. When finished you can set up a mini gallery on the back of the seat in front of you, and they don't take up tonnes of space in your hand luggage.

Clever Packing!
Family Holiday Every year, we go on holiday and I always try to bear in mind that we all need a break so everybody has to get some "me" time. We each get to do something we want to, that way we all benefit.

Each child has their own light little plane bag with a spare pair of pants,a small snack and drink, and something like a book, magazine or small toy to occupy them during the flight.

Make the last thing you pack in the suitcase the night clothes and toiletry bag, so whatever time you get to your destination it can be retrieved quickly and easily, then the rest unpacked at your leisure the next day or when the little ones are asleep. Have a drink or sweet available for children on take off so their ears don't hurt.

I try and leave my house pristine, because there nothing worse than coming back from a great holiday to a mess. Also I won't worry if anyone pops into our house whilst we are away.

Lucky Dip
My holiday tip is to buy lots of little things to do, like stickers, magic boards, raisins, pencils, paper, cards, and wrap them all up and every half an hour let the children do a lucky dip. This also works with older children, give them £2.00 of 20p's everytime they play up take 20p away, every time they are good for half an hour give them 20p back.

Easy Camping
Keycamp We've been on some really fantastic family holidays with Keycamp. We've gone en masse - grandparents and their three children and their families! The campsites are great, very family friendly. We've stayed in both the tents and the Mobile Homes and have found the Mobile Homes easiest with little children as they really are a home from home with full kitchen and bathroom facilities (no one wants to struggle to the campsite loos in the middle of the night with a potty training toddler!). The facilities are good and there are nice touches such as presents for the kids that come with your tickets.
