The Tote

The Tote are a fantastic employer offering parent-friendly opportunities around the UK. We've heard from one of their employees Marilynn Hunter, based in Ayr, about what life is like working for the company!

Marilynn says "I am an Accredited Betting Assistant and I started working for the Tote in February 2007. I did not know anything about betting when I applied for the job, my husband explained betting to me before I went for my interview!

I hadn't had an interview for 25 years so naturally I was a little wary but I had nothing to worry about as I was made to feel very welcome. The interview went really well and I was offered the job. I loved the job from day one and to this day still do. I find it to be a very flexible job; it originally suited my circumstances with the flexibility to arrange work around my circumstances of having a young family. But I still find that the flexibility suits my lifestyle as my husband has taken early retirement and I have the best of both worlds.

I enjoy my job with the tote so much that when my daughter went to college and I looked to find a second job, I looked for a role that I could fit round my job with the tote and was lucky enough to do this on two occasions.

Working at the Tote means that you get out of the house, meet people and make new friends within the team, it is like having an extended family. It is a very social job and you have a lot of interaction with customers.

I feel so lucky to have this job and would encourage anyone to apply."
