Does 'back to school' mean back to work?
As we see the start of term this September many parents are now focusing on getting their children back to school and getting themselves back to work. The following guide will give you a few hints and tips on how to prepare yourself and find that ideal family friendly flexible job.
Sorry to say it, but the cliché is true, proper planning and preparation prevents piss poor performance. Where your work is concerned you need to be as prepared as your children are for their return to or start of school. Have a think about the type of job you'd like, if you don't know where to start focus on what you enjoy doing, make a list of your favourite things to do - if you love getting together with a large group of friends then maybe party planning is for you, if you prefer to go it alone then maybe consider self employment, if you'd rather be your own boss and run your own company then maybe explore running a franchise, or you'd like to search for a traditional employed job. Whatever you choose you need to be aware that there are hundreds of parents doing exactly the same as you, so what makes you different?
Each month we talk to a business owner, franchisee, direct seller or work from home mum in order to gain some knowledge about their job.
We cover the highs and lows of juggling family life and maintaining a successful career. We also pick up some hints and tips along the way.
This month we talk to Erin Blake who is a Franchisee with The Creation Station for Exeter and Mid Devon
When coming to the end of her maternity leave with her first child, Erin found herself looking for a position that would give her a great family/work life balance.
Erin says 'I can never say I don’t want to go to work. This is the first “job” I have had where I am excited to get up in the morning and get on with the days list of jobs.'
