Back to Work

We have some great tips to help you when you return to work after maternity leave as seen in the Daily Mirror.

Every woman that has returned to work after having a baby will know what a daunting time it is.

Your whole life has changed, emotionally and physically you are different, and your confidence may be low after a long maternity leave.

We hope these practical, no nonsense tips will help you through the first few weeks.

Before you go back

Meet up with a colleague if you can for lunch, get up to date with changes, news and of course gossip!

Arrange a meeting with your manager to discuss any changes to your role, working days/hours and any changes to your immediate team and the company since your left.

Check out your employer's policy on childcare vouchers and claim for any entitlements such as tax credits.

Boost you confidence by treating yourself to a pedicure, facial or manicure, have your colours done or go to an in-store personal shopper - whatever will make you feel great.

Always have a full dress rehersal including getting up at the right time, using childcare as you will and even travel to work.

When you go back

Think of going back after maternity leave as starting a new job so be on your best behaviour, walk tall, network and dress to impress.

Treat your work clothes as a uniform so just wear them for work and change when you get in.  This will ensure they don't get messy and it will help you switch from one role to the other.

And remember you are not alone, there will be many other Mums in your company that have gone through exactly the same thing. You're doing this to benefit your whole family.
