MerryGoRound Toys - looking to recruit within London
MerryGoRound Toys is an online toy hire service. We began trading in October 2008 and currently deliver to areas of Surrey, Berkshire and Middlesex. We now wish to expand into London and are recruiting our first agents for an initial six-month period; if successful, the positions will be ongoing and will be rolled out across other areas of London and the south.
An agent's role is to undertake local marketing and to deliver and collect Toyboxes from customers once a month. There is no financial investment required. This is the ideal job for a new mum, or for a part-time working mum to fit around the children and other commitments, as delivery time is initially flexible (daytime or evening, weekdays or weekends).
Locations: We are looking for agents to cover the following areas:
West London, covering:
- Chiswick (W4)
- Hammersmith (W6)
- Fulham (SW6)
- Chelsea (SW5, 10, 7, 3)
- Kensington & Notting Hill (W11, 14, 8)
South West London, covering:
- Wimbledon (SW19)
- Wandsworth (SW15, 18)
- Battersea & Clapham (SW8, 11, 4)
If applicants wish to undertake a smaller area, we are happy to subdivide these areas.
Duties: To market MerryGoRound Toys in your local territory in order to increase awareness and attract subscribers. We will give you as much support as possible with this, but agents often start with their own network of friends, and build out from there.
Marketing activity could include:
- Distributing flyers around local shops, cafes and toddler groups
- Emailing friends and contacts in the local area
- Putting up posters in relevant local shops and cafes
- Finding out about opportunities to advertise or creating promotions to help attract subscribers. These could be anything, from adverts in your local NCT newsletter to a competition with a local café popular with families. They need not be expensive or time-consuming, but should be designed to build maximum awareness of MerryGoRound Toys and encourage people to subscribe.
- To deliver Toyboxes to customers in your area once or twice per month. Toyboxes will be delivered to and collected from you in bulk by MerryGoRound Toys.
Candidate Skills Required: An outgoing and motivated personality, not afraid of selling! Keen to chat to new people and talk about the MerryGoRound Toys service. Some interest in toys for children under 5. Creative, hands-on approach. You will also need a car large enough to make deliveries of Toyboxes, and somewhere to store them for a few days at a time (between drop-off/collection by MerryGoRound Toys and your own deliveries).
Hours: You can work as many or as few hours as you like, although monthly deliveries will usually take one or two hours, depending on the number of customers and their location within your territory.
Salary/Benefits:
- Marketing materials are supplied by MerryGoRound Toys, and any marketing initiatives you suggest (e.g. advertising in local publications) which we believe are worth undertaking will be funded by MerryGoRound Toys.
- All agents will remain self-employed, working from their own base and organising their own work hours. Toybox deliveries will need to be made on specific days at specific times in order to fulfil customer needs; however, as each of these territories is an addition to the MerryGoRound Toys coverage area, the day(s) and times of deliveries are negotiable with the agent before the contract begins.
- Payment takes the form of a commission plus a delivery fee per Toybox delivered: Commission will be paid at 10% of the monthly subscription fee paid by each customer within the territory, and will be paid monthly when the Toybox has been delivered. Toybox subscriptions currently range from £14.99 to £19.99 per month. You continue to receive this commission monthly until that customer cancels their subscription. You will also earn a delivery fee of £1.50 per Toybox for every Toybox delivered.
- In addition, all agents are entitled to a free subscription to MerryGoRound Toys, worth £19.99 per month, for as long as they remain agents.
