Mum's View

Name: Becki
Location: Norfolk
Family: Jack 9, Tilly 7 and Josie 3

How often do you work?
I hold at least two to three Knitti parties each month - it takes about 4 hours in total including inviting people, set up and paperwork afterwards.

How does the job fit around your family life?
So easily because I hold the parties after the school run or in the evenings.

How much time do you commit?
About 8 - 12 hours a month.

Where do you carry out your work?
Initially just at home but Knitti run a great hostess scheme which means that I am now running parties in other peoples homes too. People are always asking me about booking parties! I have also just booked some stands at local school Christmas Fairs where I expect to do really well.

How much space do you need for your kit/stock?
It all fits into a couple of boxes - which easily fits into the bottom of a spare wardrobe.

Do you need a car?
Realistically, yes.

Do you advertise?
Initially I handed out some leaflets at school that Knitti had provided me with, but I'm now picking up sufficient new business from the parties themselves that I haven't needed to.

How did you hear about the job?
A friend in Yorkshire had held a party and said how easy it was. I already had a couple of Knitti dresses so knew how gorgeous they were. So I decided to give it a try and made over £150 for just over 2 hours work! I was amazed and now I hold them regularly. I really enjoy being part of Knitti and it’s great to help a British brand to become known.

Do you get support/training?
Yes, Knitti's Party Plan Co-ordinator is always on hand to lend support and answer any questions. Also there are newsletter updates with hints and tips from other party planners which are really useful. I'm now being considered for becoming a Knitti Party Leader and earning even more commission for helping others to hold Knitti parties in my area.

Are there any downsides to the role?
I can't think of any! It's so easy to do because having had Knitti dresses for my little girls already, I can look people in the eye and tell them how well they wash, what good quality they are and how much Tilly and Josie enjoy wearing them. Once my party guests see and feel the dresses, the dresses really do sell themselves, especially as they are often sold below the normal web price.

Would you recommend this opportunity to other Mums?
Absolutely - this is perfect for any Mum with little girls and it's also helped to widen my circle of friends.
