How often do you work?
On average I run 2-3 parties per week
How does the job fit around your family life?
It fits brilliantly! I used to work in a Hospital and found the stress of trying to get the three children ready, out of the door and on the way to School/Nursery/Grandmas and me to work for 9am just too much. Selling Tupperware has given me my days back and I can now fit my work life around my family life. When I go out to work my husband is at home so he looks after the children.
How much time do you commit?
I usually allow about 3 hours per party - that includes travel time and time to pack my kit bag.
Where do you carry out your work?
I generally run parties in people's homes. However I do also run fundraising events at Playgroups, Nurseries and Church Halls. The group who have enabled me to host the event will get either a percentage of the takings or free items that they might like to raffle - its brilliant as its my way of being able to put something back into my local community.
How much space do you have?
My kit fits into a kit bag and a cardboard box. Tupperware is by its nature a light product so my kit isn't hugely heavy and I have a trolley kit bag on wheels which helps!
Do you need a car?
It depends on where you live I think. Where I am a car is necessary - we don't have an extensive transport network - local buses run one an hour! However, if you were working in a City with good transport a car might not be essential - especially as the kit isn't heavy.
Do you advertise?
The Tupperware business in the UK is currently going through a re-growth period and demand for parties is huge! So at the moment I don't advertise - word of mouth keeps me busy enough. I may advertise in the local paper in the future.
How did you hear about the job?
I used to be a Tupperware Consultant several years ago and loved the job. When I heard they were restarting the Consultant business I knew I wanted to join up again and contacted Head Office directly.
Do you get support/training?
Yes - Head Office are great. I speak to Consultants in my Scottish team via email and telephone and am always there to offer support. There are plans for centralised training in the future.
Are there any downsides to the role?
No - none that I can think of!
Would you recommend this opportunity to other Mums?
Yes definitely! Tupperware are an innovative company with fantastic products which sell themselves. Being a Consultant is hugely rewarding - I have made some fantastic friends and love the chance to be Jacqui (not only Mum) and have people listen to me!
