Mum's View

Name: Samantha
Location: Darlington
Family: Alexandra, 4yrs (in May) She was about 10 mths old when I started as a distributor

How often do you work?
Mainly Monday to Friday - occassionally at weekends to get deliveries out

How does the job fit around your family life?
Very well, especially as a distributor as you can time putting and collecting in catalogues round existing commitments.

How much time do you commit?
as a distributor I worked about 10-12 hours per week, as a Co-ordinator 30 - 40

Where do you carry out your work?
From my home

How much space do you have for your kit/stock?
I keep it in the garage

Do you need a car?
As a distributor you don't nessecarily need a car but it does help when doing deliveries but definately need a car (and a conputer with internet access) for the Co-ordiantor's role.

Do you advertise?
Yes, Job Centres, Free Papers, Window Cards, Leaflets through doors, web-sites and of course word of mouth.

How did you hear about the job?
A leaflet was put through my door by the Co-ordinator at the time, but I already knew about Betterware as I had been a Distributor when I lived in Scotland.

Do you get support/training?
Usually as a new distributor you do get full training and support, I didn't as I'd already done the job before and was left to my own devices. As a Co-ordinator I get full support from my Region, and there are training days organised by the company.

Are there any downsides to the role?
As a distributor the weather, but you aren't a fully fledged distributor until you've been soaked at least twice!! You have to leave at least one day, if not two per week that are totally Betterware free to recharge your batteries and refresh for the next week.

Would you recommend this opportunity to other Mums?
Definitely, it is a great way to earn either extra "pocket money" for the childrens clothes, to treat yourself, save for a holiday, whatever; or it is a good weekly wage if you progress to being a Co-ordinator and run your own team. It is also a great way of getting out of the house especially with little ones
