Mum's View

Name: Sue
Location: Devon
Family: Felix (10) Lucy (2)

How often do you work?
It depends on how much I have been promoting them and the time of the year (the run up to Christmas is a key busy time) - but usually I do about 4-6 a month

How does the job fit around your family life?
90% of the parties I run are in the evening, so my husband is at home with the children. For the rare day-time parties I try to plan them when Felix is at School and at places I can take Lucy

How much time do you commit?
It depends on how many parties I have booked. A party takes about 1.5 hours

Where do you carry out your work?
At people's houses and I hand out the catalogues to friends, famaily and at Felix's school and Lucy's playgroup

How much space do you have?
I keep all my catalogues in my bedroom on a shelf, my products are in their own bags

Do you need a car?
You don't have to have one, but I think it really helps as you can go to parties further afield and carry all your catalogues and products with you easily

Do you advertise?
Only by word of mouth really! I have thought about putting up some posters and it is something I might do if my sales slow down and I need to drum up more business

How did you hear about the job?
I saw a poster in my gym changing room!

Do you get support/training?
I get lots of support and encouragement from my Team Leader. She sends round inspirational stories about sucessful parties people have had - if they have used a particular theme etc. There is regular training available and team meetings. I tend not to go to them really as they are a bit far from my house...but I can keep up with things on email

Are there any downsides to the role?
I haven't found any - I know some people when they start out can find running parties challenging, but there is lots of support and encouragement from the company

Would you recommend this opportunity to other Mums?
Yes totally! Its a challenging job that you can fit round all your other commitments. I earn pretty good money, but still feel like I am 100% Mum to my kids
