Post natal exercise specialists.
How often do you work?
Twice a week
How does the job fit around your family life?
I take the children with me during the holidays, and take one of them with me during term time. They join in the classes!
How much time do you commit?
4 hours a week – 2 hours for the actual classes, plus travel and admin time.
Where do you carry out your work?
In the local parks - Milton Country Park and Jesus Green
How much space do you have?
Loads of space with trees, benches, fences etc in the parks, or if you mean at home, then not very much – a small study, a computer and a telephone!
Do you need a car?
Not if I ran my classes closer to home as other Buggyfit trainers do.
Do you advertise?
Yes, in the local GPs surgeries, sports centres, National Childbirth Trust Newsletter, Yellow Pages, and via midwives and health visitors, but word of mouth is the best – if you do a good job, then people tell each other!
How did you hear about the job?
Through the Guild of Postnatal Exercise Teachers and via the Buggyfit website.
Do you get support/training?
Yes – lots of support from Emma Redding who owns Buggyfit, training course and manual.
Are there any downsides to the role?
Cannot think of any – lots of time spent out in the fresh air in beautiful surroundings with mums and babies!!
Would you recommend this opportunity to other Mums?
Definitely! It’s a great way to get fit, help other people to meet each other and get out and about with their babies, and to earn some money with very few overheads.
