How often do you work?
I always have samples, catalogues and some products with me. I tend to find most sales take place outside school, toddlers and other children's clubs. I hold an event once or twice a month - this could be at a fete, coffee morning, toddlers, luncheon club or a hostess party. Much busier at Christmas though! General tasks fit in in the evenings.
How does the job fit around your family life?
Very easy to fit around family life. The children have always been able to come with me to the daytime events - toddlers, coffee mornings and even an old people's luncheon club! At weekend events, their Dad is more than happy to have them all to himself for a morning or afternoon, otherwise, one or other will come with me and "help". I have found it easy to motivate myself into carrying out my admin during the evenings as I tend to treat Phoenix as a hobby I get paid for!
How much time do you commit?
Personally, it probably averages around 5 hours a week - sometimes more, sometimes less.
Where do you carry out your work?
I hand out catalogues everywhere I can and always have a bag full of samples, catalogues and products with me!
How much space do you have?
It is possible to run the business with no stock at all - ie from the samples only, these fit into 2 A4 files. However, most traders carry as much stock as they can fit into their own space - a box, a cupboard, under the bed or even a loft! I have mine in 4 large boxes.
Do you need a car?
It helps to get out and about. But it isn't necessary if only selling to family and friends that you meet anyway.
Do you advertise?
Not as a rule, I tend to get sales & bookings for parties by word of mouth - a friend tells a friend etc.
How did you hear about the job?
A lady (now my sponser) visited the toddler group I ran when I was 8 months pregnant. I fell in love with the products, saw a business opportunity and grabbed it! 2 1/2 years later I still love the products and the business, and I get paid too!
Do you get support/training?
I get loads of support from my own sponser, she is full of ideas and encouragement. I now have my own team (all across the UK!) and have followed her examples in supporting my own ladies run their business successfully too. The company itself is very approachable and always willing to help too.
Are there any downsides to the role?
No!
Would you recommend this opportunity to other Mums?
DEFINITELY - do something for yourself! You've nothing to lose. The products sell themselves, all you have to do is supply them and earn money for doing this!
