New to the party plan sector, Top That! Publishing has launched Top That! Direct. We have spoken to Angela Gregg about what her role has been in setting up the new company and what potential Consultants can expect...

What is your background?

I have been in sales for over 20 years, selling products in industries as diverse as confectionery and banking. I ran my own children's art, craft and cookery school until being asked to set up and manage Top That! Direct.

Who is Top That! Publishing?

Top That! Publishing Plc was formed in Woodbridge, Suffolk in September 1999. Five years on, and this dynamic company is a leader in the Books Plus field, and highly respected for producing innovative, stimulating books that are both fun and educational.

How long have you been with the company?

I joined Top That! Publishing in April this year. My role has been to set up Top That! Direct, the party plan arm of the company. I have been responsible for all stages of its development, from the initial market research to design of corporate literature and recruitment of Representatives.

What inspired Top That! Publishing to set up Top That! Direct?

The nature of our business means that we mainly deal with bookshop owners or book buyers. Very seldom do we get to meet the actual consumers. We therefore felt adding a Party Plan arm would be a natural progression for the business, giving us the opportunity to bring our products directly into the homes of the consumer.

What makes Top That! Direct product ranges so different?

Our products come under the category of Books Plus. What this means is that most of our books also come with an activity element. They are created by our own team of in-house designers and editors, and have an educational, fun and creative theme to them. The books are affordable, so are ideal presents for all those children's parties our kids attend; make excellent Christmas presents, and are invaluable in keeping the kids amused during the long summer holidays!

Playgroups and nurseries will love our Early Years range. We also have a great adult range, which again make ideal gifts!

What qualities are you going to be looking for in potential Representatives?

Because Top That! Products are aimed largely at youngsters, we feel those with a natural affinity with children would be most suited to the role. Whether you look after children for friends or family, have your own, or work with children already - we want people to be successful with our company and believe if you enjoy children, you will do just that!
